4.5 The Bachelor Inn 4.5 star review:
Superb location close to O'Connell bridge. Have been to this pub a few times & can definitely recommend the soup & sandwich. Chicken Curry, beef strogonoff have very small portions and are not very filling. Then again when you are in a pub drinking a beer, having a small portion does the trick.
The food is adequate and reasonably priced.
Excellent atmosphere.
Plenty of tourists & locals.
Traditional Irish Music live after 1900 most nights as far as I know.

We ate in here as I had bought a voucher and I thought we would try it. Mmm. Bar itself is quite typical of any traditional Irish Bar. We ordered 2 pints of beamish which were fine, staff were pleasant. Now to the food: The food is stored in fridges behind the bar and when you put in your order they prep the meal behind the bar which I think is a bit dubious. We had a chicken curry and an irish stew. I thought mine was tasty enough but my partner thought the curry was sour. Both were quite watery and presentation was not great. Other tables seemed to get better dishes so perhaps we were unlucky with what we ordered. Result? Would go back for a drink if in the area again but I think I would go elsewhere for food.

This pub have an unusual offer which Ive never seen before. They offer membership cards to regulars for €20 and it entitles you to €3 pints Sunday to Thurs and get this - a free meal once a week!! My boyfriend and I just found out about the deal and signed up last week. We went in Thursday night and it was lovely atmosphere and the owner was very friendly. Good live music too. The menu is quite limited and on this particular occasion I didn't get a chance to sample it, but its a very popular spot and I'm looking forward to trying it out.
