we are a small, owner-run, independent café on dublin’s capel street (153 Capel St, Dublin 1 – a map is always useful if you’re lost).
we are open monday to friday, 8 – 6; saturdays we open 11-5.
our focus is to do a good job, serving people simple, good food and drinks that they can enjoy, and that we can enjoy making and serving.
our menu is simple and small – so we can try and make things the best they can be.

I've been several times now and think I have sampled most things on the menu. Never disappointed. First, the coffee is some of the best I've had in Ireland. Full, strong, intense - the way coffee should be. The last visit I had the Mediterranean breakfast plate which was fantastic. Can't get enough of this place. Two thumbs up ;-)

I popped into this gem in the city during a busy evening rush. Most of the tables were being occupied. I ordered a coffee and sat down. I was served by a bubbly staff member. I chose the soup of the day and a sandwitch. Everything was really tasty. I will definatley be back.

Brother Hubbard is a small oasis on the northside. We sat in the sunny garden and enjoyed really fresh and tasty salads, homemade soup and delicious sandwiches. Their coffee is smooth and tasty and is a perfect accompaniment to their delicious fresh baked pastries. We had a cinnamon roll and an orange chocolate flourless cake. Everything was delicious and the extremely friendly staff really added to the experience. Can't wait to try their hot chocolate.....was too full when I saw someone else assembling theirs!!!

We arrived at closing time on Saturday afternoon while wandering around Dublin's northside and while we couldn't have a coffe and cinamom roll sitting down they kindly gave it to us to take away (adding a free scone to the package). The owners were very charming and helpful and we are encouraged to visit again soon during regular opening hours. The room looked pleasant and there is an outdoor dining space as well. We ate the delicious cinamon roll and full bodied coffee sitting on the nearby bridge over the Liffey and watched the Dublin people parade. If you are shopping on Dublin's northside, ie ILAC Centre or Jervis Street Centre and looking for a pleasant and quiet place for a coffee or lunch, then tthis is the place to go.

We'd a lovely lunch in Brother Hubbard in early July, the weather was lovely but we couldn't sit outside as the courtyard was full and we were in early!! Between us we'd a nice selection of salads, a roll and the daily special which was a tuna pate, all were delicious and we enjoyed every mouthful! We somehow found room for chocolate brownies and an orange cake which were both enjoyed with coffees all around. Service throughout was very pleasant and friendly - the impression is that these guys really care that everyone enjoys their restaurant! Go and enjoy but get there early as it really packs out by 12.30!!
