Anvil Bistro Restaurant 4.5 star review: Myself and my wife went to The Anvil Bistro to celebrate our wedding anniversary and were very impressed. For starters my wife had lemon sole tempura and I had the terrine of Clonakilty black and white pudding both of which were delicious. We both had 28 day aged striploin steak for mains and again we were delighted. It was served on a substantial bed of champ and came with peppercorn sauce and beautiful mushrooms. My one small gripe is that my steak was not quite as rare as a rare steak should be, but this appears to be the norm in Irish restaurants. For dessert I had banoffee pie and my wife had apple pie which were very nice. The set dinner menu costs €29.95 for three courses which is good value for the quality of food on offer especially with no supplement for steak. The staff were very friendly and efficient and seemed to genuinely want you to enjoy your time in the restaurant. All in all a very pleasant experience and we will definitely be returning.

Anvil Bistro Restaurant 2.5 star review: A group of us dined for lunch, as usuall the site was busy and noisy. we all went for the Burger which was good and well cooked as for the chips well lests just say they left alot to be desired. The staff seemed under scarce on the visit and when we all ordered tea after we were informed there were no biscuits .... ah well

Anvil Bistro Restaurant 4.0 star review: 10 of us from work went for lunch in the Anvil last Friday. The menu is great, lots of really mouthwatering dishes to choose from and the wine list is moderatly priced too which is always a bonus! We pre ordered our food by email due to time pressure so when we arrived, we sat down and the food arrived within minutes. Service is great and the food was delicious. I had the Anvil salad and while it was really tasty there wasn't a lot of it on the plate. The curry, paninis and chicken wings all got rave reviews and I have to admit I had a mild case of food envy. The coffee was great, good quality and a decent sized cup!
The only niggle is the noise. I found it quite off putting that I couldn't hear anyone that wasn't sitting beside me. The ceilings are high and the accoustics are terrible, they might have to look at putting in some rugs or maybe some insulation because we all came out with ringing in our ears. All in all though, good food, not too pricey and great staff!

Anvil Bistro Restaurant 5.0 star review: Four of us meet here for lunch on good friday it was only open until 5 so it was very busy as most places around was closed. We were seated at a nice quiet table by the window which was great as there was a party down the end which were very noisy. I had the goats cheese tart which was really good so fresh and you could taste it was home cooked one of the best I have had. The rest had the carbonara which came out in a huge bowl very generous portion the other two had chicken wraps they were so good and came with chips and salad. The only downfall was we were waiting ages to get our bill and then even longer for our change I think they were too busy trying to close up.

Anvil Bistro Restaurant 4.0 star review: I took advantage of the early bird menu here on a Friday evening with my friend - three courses for approximately 19 euro.

After a starter of ham and black pudding terrine, I had beef bourguignon for mains, which was served with creamy mash potatoes. The flavor of the dish was beautiful and the meat was tender, but somewhat fatty.

My friend loves their spicy chicken wing starter dish which she followed up with the fish of the day. She cleared her plate.

We decided to skip dessert (included in the early bird menu price) and instead ordered coffees, which we were disappointed to see were charged for on the bill... After an enjoyable meal, this left a bad taste in our mouths.

The atmosphere here is warm and the staff are efficient, although the regular menu is slightly overpriced.

Anvil Bistro Restaurant 5.0 star review: Came here for dinner last Thursday as I was recommended by a friend to try The Anvil. What a gorgeous restaurant. The buzz of the place felt like we were in the city. It's great to have a restaurant like this in Saggart so that you dont have to go into the city to get a good atmosphere. Food was really impressive and the service was amazing. Staff were so friendly and attentive. Ill be bringing all my family back to The Anvil over Christmas.

Anvil Bistro Restaurant 4.0 star review: We have been looking forward to trying the Anvil in it's new location and it is very cosy and spacious inside. We didn't have starters just mains and desserts. My guest had steak and I had the vegetarian curry - there isn't a great choice for vegetarians. The curry was nice, plenty of fresh vegetables and basmati rice, the naan seemed to be from a packet. The steak was very good. We had banoffi and ice cream for dessert, the menu mentioned that the ice cream was Movenpick, my favourite but I don't think it was. The curry was €16.50, a little pricey. The steak €27. It would be great if the menu changed regularily. Staff were lovely, really welcoming and friendly.

Anvil Bistro Restaurant 2.0 star review: Three of us arrived a few minutes early for the evening menu but were told we could be seated anyway but were just left at the table with nobody offering to get us a drink, not even a water although it was not busy. Food was overpriced and was just ok but when far better restaurants are offering better value for money, will not be back.

Lamb Cutlets with Garlic, Lemon and Paprika

Why not make up a large quantity of this marinade in advance – it is wonderful with cutlets and would also work well with leg steaks or loin chops. The longer you marinate the meat for, the better the flavour!
