The Peacock Restaurant @ Finnstown Country House 4.0 star review: Dined here as we were staying in the hotel and a 3 course meal was offered as part of our package. In saying that 35euro is not bad value for a 3 course meal anyway. For starter I had deep fried brie. It was tasty and the berry compote complimented it nicely. My boyfriend had the prawn and crab which was served with smoked salmon on the top and he said it was delicious. For mains I had a duo of salmon and hake. As I am allergic to prawns I was allowed to choose another sauce in place of the prawn bisque. The waitress was very young and said that I could any of the sauces which accompanied other dishes e.g. creamy peppercorn sauce which generally accompanies steak. Obviously this would have been far too over powering for fish so I settled on a creamy garlic sauce. My boyfriend opted for the steak which he really enjoyed and we were both served vegetables on the side, carrots, brocolli, cauliflower and baby boiled potatoes. For dessert I had the lemon tart which was really good and my boyfriend the Tiramisu. Overall we really enjoyed our night and would look forward to eating here again if we were ever staying the hotel. A really nice touch was the lady playing piano while we ate. Lovely background music!

The Peacock Restaurant @ Finnstown Country House 4.5 star review: As we live nearby, we decided to try here for my hubbie's b'day and based on our experience-we'll be going again.
Lovely atmosphere in the restaurant, great service (I wasn;t the easiest customer-I had certain requests) all handled professionally! Set menu is excellent value and I would recommend it to anyone! Delicious!

The Peacock Restaurant @ Finnstown Country House 5.0 star review: Used a MenuPages gift voucher received for Christmas for a meal in this restaurant. It’s a lovely setting in which to enjoy a meal. There’s a large open fire and quaint décor, ensuring that the dining room oozes with character. There are lots of old portraits and interesting photographs on the walls, along with a huge mirror over the mantle piece which reflects the lighting in the room, adding to the ambience. Couldn’t fault this meal in any way, from beginning to end the presentation, service and quality of food was top class. We thoroughly enjoyed a delicious meal in relaxing surroundings. Would definitely recommend The Peacock to prospective diners.

The Peacock Restaurant @ Finnstown Country House 5.0 star review: Was brought to The Peacock for a special treat. The dining room is homely and welcoming with a roaring open fire. The restaurant was busy and filled with the buzz of chat from diners. Service is very good and the two waiters who looked after us on that evening were both friendly and efficient. The meal was absolutely delicious, food cooked to perfection and plenty of it too. We were each served with a dish of freshly cooked vegetables from which we could help ourselves. I had Kilmore Key Crab/Prawn salad to start, Silverhill duck for mains and a mouthwatering pannacotta dessert. It was topped off with two coffees and a bottle of wine. A 4-course meal was €35 per person, which is very good value for a hotel meal. It’s definitely on the list for a revisit.

The Peacock Restaurant @ Finnstown Country House 4.0 star review: I agree with the other reviewers unfortunately...... There was a cold feeling from some of the restaurant staff (there was one older man who was great fun and helpful he was the exception rather than the rule). Lovely cosy restaurant and bar, but the food was not warm when served. Nice place to spend a Sunday.

The Peacock Restaurant @ Finnstown Country House 5.0 star review: We visited Finnstown last night using a Menupages deal and were very impressed. I had been there before many years ago and it is just as nice as I remember it. The house the dining room and the bar are beautiful. The food was excellent. The prawn starter, in particular, was delicious, as was everything else. The service was efficient but I thought it lacked a little in friendliness. We had a drink in the bar both before and after the meal and found it to be a really nice comfortable place to relax in. We had a very enjoyable evening and we definitely will be returning.

The Peacock Restaurant @ Finnstown Country House 4.0 star review: We have been here several times over the last couple of years, normally for family occassions. The food is very good and the menu offers a good and varied selection. The service is good but not fantastic. Some of the staff are not very knowledgeable or helpful.
Finnstown house is a lovely old house and the dining room is old style and together with the excellent piano player creates a very relaxing, romantic athmosphere. The set menu is good value. It's definitely one of the best places to eat in Lucan and would recommend it.

The Peacock Restaurant @ Finnstown Country House 4.0 star review: I attended a family birthday party here and there was about 20 people in the group. I had salmon with crab filling for starters and duck for the main, the duck was cooked to perfection with a lovely crispy skin, delicious, for dessert I choose strawberry meringue all washed down with a lovely Chilean wine. As this was a set dinner there was a choice of five starters and mains so there was something to suit all tastes. Everyone else seemed very happy with their meals. Service was excellent and there was a good atmosphere in the restaurant.
As we stayed the night we had a chance to sample breakfast, this was again up to scratch with pleasant staff and no delay in being shown to our table and coffee and tea brought out promptly. This is an old style hotel/restaurant but in my opinion could give some of the new modern places some tips on how to treat its customers. Will definately be back.

The Peacock Restaurant @ Finnstown Country House 3.0 star review: Ate here on Friday night. I had chorizo risotto and beef medallions, while my boyfriend had confit duck leg and lamb.
The risotto was a little heavy but the duck was delicious, as were both main courses.
The service however was a little off.
At one point our waitress knocked over my glass of wine. I didn't think this was that big a deal, after all accidents happen and she was extremely apologetic. However, I thought it was strange that she did not offer me a new glass of wine, instead just emptying the remains of the bottle on our table into a fresh glass.
Dessert service was also a bit off.
We ordered two desserts, an Irish coffee and a regular coffee. The Irish coffee arrived almost immediately, long before the desserts. My coffee on the other hand did not arrive until long after both desserts and the irish coffee were gone!
Despite this we enjoyed the meal overall. The food was generally good, the value was ok, and the staff were extremely friendly, if a little stingy with the wine.

The Peacock Restaurant @ Finnstown Country House 5.0 star review: This is my first time to comment on a restaurant or hotel ( so bear with me ) but we felt we had to after our visit to the restaurant in Finnstown House Hotel. My husband and I had not made a booking as we initially went to try the bar food but after looking at the restaurant menu we decided to enquire. A lovely lady met us in the restaurant and happily prepared a table for us, I think this lady may have worked in a top hotel before ( very courteous ) .

Firstly the menu is varied and very affordable something really for everyone, I am not a drinker but there was no problem with my husband getting a drink from the bar. The starter and main course where surprisingly nice and we had tea & coffee to follow, there was quite a buzz in the restaurant and the staff kept us entertained and well looked after.

We would highly recommend a visit and will plan to come again.

Lamb Cutlets with Garlic, Lemon and Paprika

Why not make up a large quantity of this marinade in advance – it is wonderful with cutlets and would also work well with leg steaks or loin chops. The longer you marinate the meat for, the better the flavour!
