I was here with a few friends I like the Porterhouse in Temple Bar for a few drinks. I was here for food at Christmas and wasnt impressed with the burger but I was hungry and said I would this the food the benefit of the doubt this time. The service was a little slow and the orders were wrong one of my friends got a half Caesar Salad instead of a full and another girl got a wrong drink, I ordered the Porterhouse Pie but they didnt have any so I went with the pasta instead. It was just ok for €11 I would have expected more flavour, the chicken was bland and bacon fatty with a watery cream pasta sauce. I just ate the pasta, some bacon and the mushrooms. I like Porterhouse for the night as the beers are good but wouldnt rush back for the food.

I stopped into the Porterhouse for a late lunch, to sample their Oktoberfest. I had Bratkartoffeln, a tub of roast potatoes, bacon and grilled onion, and a Bratwurst. Whilst filling, these weren't as tasty as what I'm used to from the Porterhouse. The Bratkartoffeln was quite bland, the bacon being overdone and the potatoes under-seasoned. My Bratwurst could have done with more, or stronger, mustard. As I was finished work, and on my way home, I had an Hersbruker Oktoberfest seasonal beer, brewed by the Porterhouse Brewing Company, and this was excellent.

I brought my parents here while they were in town on a week visit. They don't drink, but I insisted that we could go here - with lively music, over 200 different beers on tap and good food they surely could find something of interest. Despite their protests about going to a "pub", they had a great time, enjoyed both the food (the ham sandwich and soup is enormous) for the value - you don't go away hungry - that's for certain. I even managed to get them to try a few of the beers on tap, with their favourite being the locally brewed strawberry beer.
