Situated in the heart of Dublin’s busy tourist area the Porterhouse le Bar is quite simply your favourite pub waiting to be found. With its warm wood and brass design, it boasts 3 floors of beer loving Nirvana. The Porterhouse brewing company is the world’s largest genuine Irish brewery, brewing 9 beers (3 stouts, 3 ales & 3 lagers) added to by seasonal specials. With a selection of guest beers on draught and a huge collection of bottle beers from around the world, The Porterhouse offers a drinks menu which is unbeatable this side of Willy Wonka, should he have chosen beer instead of chocolate! Bookings for large groups (i.e. 10 people or more) can be made Monday – Thursday until 7pm, Friday until 6pm. No bookings are taken Saturday or Sunday. There is no charge for bookings however tables will be reserved for a maximum of ½ hour. Full evening menu is available throughout the day until 9.30. A finger-food menu is available at €10 per person. Bookings for Christmas are accepted.

I was here with a few friends I like the Porterhouse in Temple Bar for a few drinks. I was here for food at Christmas and wasnt impressed with the burger but I was hungry and said I would this the food the benefit of the doubt this time. The service was a little slow and the orders were wrong one of my friends got a half Caesar Salad instead of a full and another girl got a wrong drink, I ordered the Porterhouse Pie but they didnt have any so I went with the pasta instead. It was just ok for €11 I would have expected more flavour, the chicken was bland and bacon fatty with a watery cream pasta sauce. I just ate the pasta, some bacon and the mushrooms. I like Porterhouse for the night as the beers are good but wouldnt rush back for the food.

I stopped into the Porterhouse for a late lunch, to sample their Oktoberfest. I had Bratkartoffeln, a tub of roast potatoes, bacon and grilled onion, and a Bratwurst. Whilst filling, these weren't as tasty as what I'm used to from the Porterhouse. The Bratkartoffeln was quite bland, the bacon being overdone and the potatoes under-seasoned. My Bratwurst could have done with more, or stronger, mustard. As I was finished work, and on my way home, I had an Hersbruker Oktoberfest seasonal beer, brewed by the Porterhouse Brewing Company, and this was excellent.

I brought my parents here while they were in town on a week visit. They don't drink, but I insisted that we could go here - with lively music, over 200 different beers on tap and good food they surely could find something of interest. Despite their protests about going to a "pub", they had a great time, enjoyed both the food (the ham sandwich and soup is enormous) for the value - you don't go away hungry - that's for certain. I even managed to get them to try a few of the beers on tap, with their favourite being the locally brewed strawberry beer.
