FXB Monkstown 5.0 star review: One of the best steak restaurant I have ever eaten in Dublin. Came here with my partner who was raving about it. The steak was mouthwatering and real juicy. Defo coming back and would highly recommend to all.

FXB Monkstown 4.0 star review: We came here for a family dinner for my boyfriend's birthday. We were all impressed by the bread selection - there were different loaves served with a variety of spreads, including tapenade, pesto and sundried tomato pesto. The staff were generous when we asked for more bread! I had the deep-fried camembert to start, which was served with a chutney. It was lovely, though there seemed to be a slightly high ratio of pastry to cheese. The main course sirloin was delicious, as it always is with FXB. A couple of the others had the ham hock, and they were disappointed by the crackling, which had a gummy texture - but the meat itself was delicious, and the portions are huge! Although it was a Monday night there were a few large groups so sometimes it was difficult to hear the conversation at our smaller table. Other than that, the meal was excellent, and I would happily go back!

FXB Monkstown 4.0 star review: This restaurant is upstairs over the pub which means the tables can be quite close to fit a crowd in. The food is consistent and last evening when I was there with friends the "fittlet of plaice" (my main course) was superb and full marks too for presentation.

The starters here are generous (especially the caesar salad which is like a portion for two).

All in all this restaurant is consistent in food, service and value for money with a pleasant atmosphere.

FXB Monkstown 4.0 star review: My partner and I visited FXB's last Sunday for a late dinner. We were welcomed and led to a table very promptly even without a reservation. The food was excellent, we both had steaks. My partner is very fussy about how his steak is cooked ( medium rare)and he was pleasantly surprised to find it was cooked to perfection. We didn't have starters as it was quite late but shared a desert.
All rounded off with a very nicely priced Merlot.
A good experience all round.

FXB Monkstown 4.0 star review: We visited Monkstown to eat in a nearby restaurant on a rainy sunday but finished up in FXBs as the other place had a queue. We were not disappointed with our second choice. We shared a substantial starter and had two mains for a very reasonable price. The service was warm and friendly if a little eccentric (they were playing Christmas carols in April!). Both our server and the manager came over to check that we were happy with our food. Haven't been there yet for dinner but would recommend it for lunch.

FXB Monkstown 5.0 star review: I love this FXB's. It's got a great buzzy atmosphere; the staff are lovely - really friendly; efficient and helpful in making suggestions.

Recommend Thai beef salad; death by chocolate and great to be able to buy a really nice glass of wine.

Great value - highly recommended.

FXB Monkstown 5.0 star review: This isn't so much a restaurant review as a personal tribute to my favourite meal.
I spent a good deal of time in South Africa, and there I came across a dish called Eisbein, a local favourite for hungry lads in Cape Town. It is a dish of German/Dutch origin - a pickled ham hock, slow cooked until tender and then popped into a very hot oven to make the outside CRISPY! Delicious!
FXB do the nearest thing to it that I have found on these shores: their Slow Roast Crispy hock of Pork, served with an apple and Calvados compote, red wine jus and spring onion mash.
I have tried to get the skin of ham or pork hocks really crispy at home, to no avail. FXBs' version is Crispy, soft and tasty, and it is also huge - I invariably bring home enough in a 'doggie bag' for another full meal.
This is unashamed mans food - no delicate towers of indeterminate ingredients, but honest, well-cooked food. And it costs less than 15 euro.Thank you FXB!
Of course, the atmosphere, service and amenities are also great. But when I think of going there, I know what I have in mind. I can almost smell it!
I'm drooling again!
