The Summit Inn is a unique pub where all ages meet together to enjoy a pint, a snack and relax & watch the world go by. There is a good mix of both local and visitor clientele all struck by the timeless ambience that is The Summit. The Summit has without question the finest view from any pub in Ireland overlooking as it does the magical Irelands Eye and Lambay Islands off Howth harbour and further north the Mountains of Mourne in lovely county Down. With a well appointed and spacious seating area out front where one can drink or dine the feeling is one of freedom and the views simply breathtaking. Sunny days are made for this! Inside and the pub doesnt disappoint. The bar is traditional and cosy with a turf fire. The pub grub is excellent and the perfect accompaniment to a few drinks. The menu is select but caters for all tastes. Fresh, natural ingredients including fresh fish are the order of the day. Prices are reasonable and the kitchen takes last orders at 9.30pm. The Summit Inn as its name suggests is located at the Summit of Howth Hill. It was the last stop on the old GNR Howth tram which meandered its way from Howth train station at the foot of the hill up the hill to the summit. Sadly the tram is no more as it shut down in the early 60s although its track (opposite the pub) is still used today and is the quickest way on foot from the summit to the village. Tram or no tram, a visit to The Summit as it is affectionately known is a must for all visitors to Howth - some locals also consider it a must on a daily basis! The inn was originally built in the 19th century as a thatched cottage and has been in the Gaffney family for generations. Come on Up!

My OH and I had a late dinner here. We ordered large portion of their famous spicy chicken wings and Quesadilla to share. Very tasty. Great pub grub. We eat here quite regularly and have not been disappointed.

Ate here today, shared spicy wings(excellent), chippy chips, casear salad and the worst chowder ive ever had.It wasnt a chowder, twas more of a vegetable soup with a tin of salmon thrown in.Nice.
Will eat here again though - the wings saved the day.

lovely place for a few drinks and nice grub. Good value. Love the spicy wings and the Chicken/Beef Quesidellas - beer garden for the summer and log fires during the winter.

A really quaint little pub,tht serves a good selection, despite being pub grubbs. Really tasty HUGE portions of food tht u might consider sharing just so that you can savour a gd mix of everythg!!
I'd recommend the chicken wings, the cod n' chips and chowder. The chips were done fabulously. I'm a sucker for soft thick chips and they achieved nirvahna in tht sense =) Abt the cod, the batter is light and not greasy, the only minor issue was the tail end of the cod bein slimy and scales on the fish. Sorry for bursting the bubble! But a lovely place for a long afternoon lunch. Will return..buah hahaha!

living in howth, the summit is a regular place for lunch! Its not the cheapest but its always nice! The wings are really nice and chowder and wedges is the best hangover cure!! The service is never the best but the food more than makes up for it!! only thing I wouldn't recommend would be the nachos or the desserts!

Dropped in for a quick bite. Service was slow despite it not being busy. Soup was good and my pal was impressed as she had not been before. Like this place but don't let yourselves down on the service please.

Wonderful setting, especially on a sunny day. Food can be a bit hit and miss. With a big party, one person can be extremely pleased and another extremely disappointed. Suppose it depends if the chef is having a good day or not. Would still keep going back though as more often than not the food is very good at fair prices in a relaxed setting. A must see for non locals.
