5.0 Hedigans The Brian Boru 5.0 star review:
I'd been to the Brian Boru before and was always happy with the food and service but having gone back last night with a Living Social voucher, the place has gone even higher in my estimations!
A lot of places treat you a little differently if you have a voucher or have restrictions on what you can order. So while the deal we'd purchased stated any starter and main off the A La Carte menu and a glass of wine I was expecting a supplement for mains like the steak but no, it covered anything you want!
We were served by a young guy and then a lady and both were excellent, friendly and attentive without fussing. We both had the chowder which came with gorgeous Guinness soda bread and was delecious. I had the chicken pasta dish which was nice but swimming in sauce so not for lovers of Italian style pasta with little sauce! It was very tasty though and generous with it's helping of chicken and sun dried tomatoes. Himself had the lamb hotpot which he said was lovely, full of tender lamb and vegetables. We finished with lemon cheesecake which came with cream AND ice-cream when we couldn't make up our minds. We finished with a coffee in the lovely beer garden and waddled off feeling very full and happy. Great spot, I feel lucky to live in the area so I can go back again soon because aside from the food the service and pub are fantastic in their own right.

The Brain Boru is a nice spot, it would be a more traditional pub. The carvery is just ok & the portions are quite small. The a la carte menu is limited but the food overall is tasty enough, although I was shocked & disappointed to be served a steak recently on a COLD plate!! A lot of places are putting steaks on hot stones now!! It's a nice spot for a pint with a lovely beer garden & great a place to watch the rugby. Overall ok pub grub but needs improving & heat those plates!!

We ate from the early bird menu on Saturday. I had filo prawns to start which were nice and then a very tasty Cajun chicken burger with delicious homemade chips. The beef stroganoff was also really nice. Good food, good friendly waiter and reasonable prices.

Good 'pub' food - On one occasion the wiater mixed up my order & gave me a free desert = rare service these days. I was very impressed (and I had only mentioned it quietly). However - recently used a living social voucher - wasnt overly impressed. Carvery food - quite dried out. Staff very friendly though.

Visited here with a friend last Friday on a living social meal deal. Even though Hedigans is local to me I hadn't eaten here in years. Great value 2 starters and 2 main courses from the early bird menu and an alcoholic drink each for a total of €20. Staff were very friendly and efficient and the food was excellent value. Will definitely be making a return visit!

I ate here 3 years ago and wasn't particularly impressed. However, we returned recently with a Livingsocial voucher and couldn't believe the improvement ! First of all, the friendliness and attention of the staff was unbelievable. It was like we were guests in their homes. The food wasn't half bad either ! The starters were delicious (soup and an excellent Caesar Salad) and the main courses were restaurant quality. Mrs Slurryhead had the fish which was delicious and I had the mouth watering chicken stir fry. We ate in the pleasantly laid out snug with one other couple who were also well pleased with their meal. There was a very pleasant ambience throughout the pub, which is full of surprising little alcoves, and the staff really seemed to be enjoying going about their work. Phibsboro and Glasnevin have a growing number of high quality eateries which makes the trip into town to eat an unnecessary journey. As we were leaving, a traditional music session was getting underway which we reluctantly left behind us. We'll be back shortly though !

I've only really started going to the Brian Boru in the past two months but I must say I am now a regular! They have an amzing beer garden which is nicer than some you see in pubs/clubs in town! The boys in our group drink Guinness and suggest that the Boru pours a nicer pint than elsewhere.... The food is nice for somewhere relaxed and chilled for chats with friends or for a meal with the family. Its not badly priced either and the selection of food is amazing. This place is a hidden gem, I used to pass it all the time but it looked dull from the outside but its not at all! And last night (a Saturday) we passed by and the upstairs was open with music coming out of it so I must try it on a Saturday! The bar staff are lovely too (: I'm 21 and love the place! Not for a proper night out obviously but for chats with the friends and some nice food.

We only ended up parking the car here while we were looking for somewhere to dine in Phibsboro. We went in here nd were delighted with our meal. The service was fast, efficient and friendly. There was a great buzz around the place and the food was lovely, My boyfriend had a superb beef and guinness pie and I had a lovely pasta dish, We will definately go back here and this time on purpose.

I've been to this place a few times now and I have to say I really like it. Whether its was for a quiet meal with my girlfriend, a sunday carvery with friends or just for pints and a platter with the lads, everytime the food is great and the staff are lovely. The beer battered haddock and chips I would definitely reccomend.
There is good atmosphere and if you want to get away from the pub aspect you can head out to the conservatory in the back or to the little hideaway off to the left of the back bar.
The beer garden is really nice and I cant wait for a bit of decent weather so I can test it out properly.
All in all I can't really fault this place. It wouldn't be somewhere for a special occasion or a romantic meal, but for a relaxing evening of good food and some nice pints I'd be pushed to find a better place.

Visited this place on a whim and was not disappointed. For some Sunday lunch with some girlfriends there was good food and good banter to be had. This place has a good and comfortable beer garden. I had the easy lunch option of The Viking Beef Burger. It was tasty and came topped with Mozzarella, Fresh Salsa and had a side of tasty handcut Chips. The burger and its toppings were juicy and tasty. The drink was good and the service was great. Our designated waiter was excellent and provided great banter for the duration of our stay. Can't really fault the place.
