Gilbert & Wright is a uniquely different concept on the social entertainment scene, with locations providing relaxation in an informal yet intimate setting with a distinctly ‘70s retro vibe to them.
Whether you lived through the Seventies or simply appreciate the cultural aspects of that decade, the Gilbert & Wright offering will raise an eyebrow or two and bring a smile to your face! From older-style wooden floors and occasional shag-pile carpets to free-standing lamps with their strange-shaped shades and stacked sound speakers/woofers, this is the ‘70s re-visited in no uncertain way.
Music icons of the era – from Blondie to Pink Floyd and Jimi Hendrix to The Doors – feature on specially commissioned wall paintings while framed album covers and platinum record awards adorn other walls. Funky chintzy wallpaper – covered in one case with ducks flying in formation! – add to the distinctive ‘70s feel.
Mix ‘n match couches with soft seating and leopard-skin cushion covers, a manual typewriter, old dial-up telephones, an assortment of tables and chairs and other memorabilia are all reminiscent of the Seventies era.
No matter what your preference of drink, Gilbert & Wright can satisfy most tastes – complemented by casual bistro-style food – an experience enhanced by classic music of the Seventies.
To use the vernacular of the time, ‘be there or be square’!

5.0 Gilbert & Wright Clontarf 5.0 star review:
We visited this restaurtant using our living and social coupons. We had a drink first in the retro style pub upstairs which is decorated vey well and is very comfortable. The food is very good value without the coupons 26 euro for a 3 course meal. We really liked the food and it was very well presented. there is also a nice cocktail menu which 2 of the group had instead of desserts. The waiters were extremely friendly and good fun and knew their food and the ingredients of sauces when asked. i am looking foreward to going back.

Great for a night out with friends. Great atmosphere and yummy food. There were 6 of us and everybody was happy with their food which is unusual with my friends. I had the Goats Cheese Tartlet as a main course and it was delish - so nice I tried to re-create it at home! Will definitely be back!

4.0 Gilbert & Wright Clontarf 4.0 star review:
Love the decor! I like the fact they have board games or buzz at aome of the tables. The atmosphere was great, the food was lovely and top marks for presentation. The only let down was the service. Unfortuately some of the staff seemed very inexperienced and it took over 20 mins to get two cocktails and they turned the coffee machine off at 7pm?

Was invited here for a friends birthday. Nice 70s feel to the place. Really nice surroundings. The restaurant is downstairs and was very nice. Superb food and service. Bistro style menu. Price was good too.

Nice bar, comfortable surroundings. No guarantee of food if they have closed the kitchen early. Good for the weekends but not a welcome local. Service needs to be more professional.

4.0 Gilbert & Wright Clontarf 4.0 star review:
Can't fault the service or the venue. Very chic 70's style decor. Good atmosphere.
Food however was just ok. My 2 companions agreed. Starters fine but mains poor. My fish pie was presented in a small oval dish on an enormous wooden bread board and looked a little sad and lost to say the least.
On digging in I realized it was scalding which lead me to believe it was nuked. The couple of rubbery prawns I found convinced me of this. It was tasteless and I lost interest half way through.
Pity because as I said I loved the venue.
