Citron Restaurant at The Fitzwilliam Dublin.

Chic zest for life at Citron.

Why is everyone smiling?

There's a buzz in the air and it's coming from the haven above in Citron, our casually stunning restaurant on the mezzanine level above the lobby.
It's always been a fun, funky place to eat, as you perch above, observing life below and those familiar faces coming through the hotel doors.
But now there's a new excitement - a new chef extraordinaire - a new menu - a new delight on the faces of your fellow diners. Everyone is really enjoying this. That's why they're all smiling.

You simply won't believe your palate as the lobster ravioli melts in your mouth. You read that this is an ossobuco veal jus bread mousse and onion baji but your other senses tell you that it's a taste of heaven.

Nicely priced, elegant, convenient and, well, simply scrumptious. Citron awaits you.

Irish people love to eat seafood when dining out; in fact, unlike our European neighbours, we eat more seafood outside the home. Perhaps this is a testament to the quality of our seafood restaurants. And for many visitors, a trip to Ireland wouldn’t be complete without sampling a few oysters and sinking a pint of the black stuff. I went here with my boyfriend on a wednesday with a menupages voucher. Excellent value for money. Superb service from the professional and friendly staff. The food was excellent...We had a taster dish complimentary of the chef followed by starters, main and dessert. The veal was a little dry however still tasty. All of the dishes were presented uniquely and the desserts were so different to what you find in most places. Overall a great place, though lacking much atomosphere as it was not busy. I am sure this is very different on Fridays and weekends.

WE have been to Citron before and as usual the food was of the highest quality and excellent value. Only problem we had this time was that whilst we were still drinking our wine the staff started setting all the other tables in the restaurant for the breakfast sitting. Very annoying and noisy.

I was very impressed with both the food and the service. The menu was simple but explained the food very well and when the food arrived it was definitely more than what I expected, it really was fine dinning and worth every penny. My meal deal with Menupages even included the parking fee at the hotel, so I am looking forward to my next visit!

Beautiful food at a very good price ! We(3) had a great value pre-theatre three-course meal here. Starter: Asparagus with Ricotta with Truffle and smoked egg. Main: Cod with Chorizo, black olive, pickled cabbage, red pepper, Saffron & baby potatoes .Dessert: Passion Fruit , Mango & coconut cheese cake. It was delicious. The service was fantastic we were given complimentary tasters before our starters & we were offered bread regularly throughout. The price was €25 each . Excellent !!!

Enjoyed another lovely evening in Citron last night. Service as ever was excellent - warm, friendly, attentive, professional. Food was great, always an interesting and different take on dishes. The cheese cake was an absolute treat. Whether you like traditional cheese cake or not (and this is not traditional cheese cake!) it is an absolute must try! A profusion of fabulous flavours. Great value with the Menupages deal. Would recommend and will definitely be back.

Lovely evening, with superb food. Had wondered would the atmosphere be odd, seeing as it's situated on a mezzanine, but it was terrific

This was proper fine dining. The presentation was original and interesting and really contributed to the dining experience. The food itself was excellent - not overly complex therefore allowing the ingredients to speak for themselves. Service was a little on the slow side but the staff were friendly and knowledgeable so I couldn't fault them . Overall a very pleasant and classy dining experience.

Few eating places in Dublin are as underrated as Citron and my 4 (rather than 5) rating reflects the relatively low number of diners rather than anything intrinsic to the place itself. Some people may not like the mezzanine setting and the low ceiling. However, on this - our fifth - outing to Citron the food was once more excellent and the service outstanding. The pleasant, natural, apparently effortless efficiency and attentiveness of the staff should be understudied by other establishments, including one with star aspirations on Liffeyside also in Dublin 2. It is easy to overlook just how much is added to a dining experience by this class of service which in this case seems a mark of the establishment itself rather than being down to an individual; two of the staff were new to us yet just as impressive as those who served us last time. Food was excellent and the menu seemed to have no dish in common with our last visit. Asparagus served with a saffron cream, ricotta, capers etc was a perfect starter for a hot summer's evening and my cod with a light chorizo crust, octopus etc. was superb. This was followed by what was described as mango and passion fruit cheesecake but,as my partner commented, might be described as "deconstructed" cheese cake, presented as it was in little tufts of featherlight, delicious cheesecake with a puffy cloud of mango-flavoured candy-floss. a bottle of Macon-Lugny was €33 and the meal was topped off with excellent coffee. At full price this would be good value but at half price it is unbeatable value.
