Friends who stayed here hosted invited us to a breakfast feast. If you are willing to have a breakfast as the celebratory meal of the day, the Saddle Room is a lovely venue. Anything you would imagine for a breakfast, from a healthy vege smoothy to traditional Irish breakfast to eggs benedict, you will enjoy this cuisine. Not something we could ordinarily afford. Of course you are paying for the establishment and service, which is why I emphasize it is for a special event.

This is my second time in the Saddle Room and was even more enjoyable than the first (not that I could fault anything that time either). We booked a table for 6pm on a Friday to avail of the early bird menu. The staff were so friendly, couldn't do enough for us, the food was fab and we had a little booth so were oblivious to anyone else in the restaurant..almost like our own private party.
The evening was so relaxing and we were never put under any pressure to move on...even though we stayed till close to 9.30. At only approx. €3 more expensive than most decent early birds in town, the saddle room is a real treat with lovely house wines for €28.50. I would recommend the merlot and Viogner.
Looking forward to my next visit already.

Few girlfriends and myself went to The Shelbourne last night to celebrate a birthday. We had drinks first in the bar followed by Dinner at The Saddle Room. The staff were all so welcoming and treated us very well. It was very relaxing. No rush. The set menu is very good value and great choice of food. We all enjoyed the evening and for a tuesday evening it was packed. At end of evening an extra plate was brought out for my friend with Happy Birthday scrolled in white chocolate and 2 macaroons. Happy time for us all. Thank you.

My husband and I were treated to meal here for our Anniversary as I've wanted try here for ages. We arrived before seven so I was able to order of pre Theatre Menu. I went for the three course which cost ONLY €27.95, he went for the Table D'HÓTE which was individually priced. The service was very good also the food was very tasty, with mains you get baby boiled potatoes which neither of us like so we ordered chips and mash potatoes, only complaint was he was charged €5 extra for chips and I was charged €5 for mash potatoes. Still good value but they should have offered a choice of mash, chips or baby boiled with meal at no extra cost.

I visited the Saddle Room for the Early Bird special, which was great value. There was no feeling of being rushed to make the table available for a later sitting. The food was very good, with a good selection from the table d'hote menu. Our waiter was very friendly and attentive, without being over-bearing. The one fault I would have is the location of the tables for 2, which are very close together, and the tables are quite wide so I had quite a problem conversing with my dinner companion and had to lean forward all the time. Overall great value for money in a high-class restaurant, but the seating would put me off going again.

The best food I've had in Ireland! The three courses are so well decorated and elegantly served to the table. We all loved the goats cheese as the starter, the halibut was just beautifully done, and the banoffee was brilliant dessert. After three-course meal, we were absolutely stuffed but eager for more. I highly recommend this place, for it's atmosphere, service, and the tasty meals.

For a restaurant and hotel of this standard all I can say is poor, very poor. Food was below average and service to match. Far to expensive for what you get and they seem to be trading on name only now. Shame it was once one of Dublin's top spots.

AVOID. I have no idea who is reviewing this restaurant. Food was cold (five of the six entrees went back to the kitchen) and service was poor. I ordered a monkfish pasta dish and it arrived as a risotto. (??!!) It would have been nice to have been informed that they had run out of pasta (??!!!!) before being presented with its poor cousin. Personally I can't bear risotto. The only saving grace was the fondant. Past its best. FAR FAR better steakhouses in Dublin.

I'd booked into the Shelbourne on one of their New Year's Eve packages, which included an evening meal, and I wasn't disappointed. The food was exquiste. We were given a complimentary glass of prosecco when we arrived in the restaurant, which was delicious. First came the amuse bouche, ham hock terrine for myself, and smoked salmon for my other half. The starters arrived, I had a delicious shrimp cocktail, followed by the soup, cream of celeriac I think...cant remember, but it was divine. This was followed by the nicest fillet steak I've ever tasted, my girlfriend's butter poached lobster was equally fantastic. For desert (as if we needed it) I had chocolate fondant which was a little too chocolatey for my liking, but still delicious, and all of this was washed down with a bottle of the South African Chenin Blanc. I honestly coudln't speak highly enough of this restaurant, it was simply sublime and I cant wait to go back.
