Darwins 4.5 star review: We jumped at the chance of a Dealrush voucher for Darwins as we had heard some good reviews but wanted to try it for ourselves. We were not disappointed!! We had Mushroom & sundried tomatoe Risotto & Tempura Prawns for starters which were both really tasty and Lamb Rump & Fillet Steak for mains, both cooked to perfection, melt in your mouth with sides. Dessert of Baileys Cheesecake was delish! Nicest meal in Dublin for sometime. And the staff were fantastic, really pleasant and efficient even though the restaurant was so busy for a Friday night and they had their hands full!!! Would highly recommend and we will be going back!!

Darwins 3.5 star review: Quite disappointed, this place has been on my list for a while. A group of 9 of us went for a big birthday dinner. The atmosphere was lovely and the table location was great, at the back. When the starters were ordered they came out and told us that two of us had to pick something else. I changed to the risotto with black pudding which was lovely. The other had crap cakes which were ok 7 of opted for steaks. 2 Med Rare and 5 Med. The 2 MR came out medium and the mediums medium rare. I had heard that the steaks were amazing so I was disappointed it wasn't cooked properly. When mentioned quietly nothing more was said but Bailey did appear on the table so I assume that was the guesture. Then the dessets started to come out and everyone was given a chocolate brownie that we hadn't orders. Some refused, others opted for the cheesecake, which took a long time to come out and wasn't set.

Darwins 4.5 star review: Darwins as usual delivered. The steak is always superb quality in Darwins, and perfectly cooked. It does not come with much other than mashed potato,so you have to order sides, which brings up the cost of the Pre Theatre. Also ,not everything on the desert menu for the Pre theatre was available. The staff are lovely, and Amy runs a very efficient restaurant along with her mam Dolores. I'll be back.

Darwins 4.5 star review: We purchased voucher through group on mid 2012 . From previous experiences voucher tended to last 3 months usually from Mon-Friday . Nearing the end of 3 months we decided better use voucher . Having not read fine print we were disappointed to realised that voucher was only valid 2 months. We rang Darwin’s to see if could still use and left message but no one came back to us so presumed couldn’t use.
We purchased a different voucher for set menu for 2 and this time checked fine print and booked for Friday 25th January. We were really looking forward to meal as have 2 small children and don’t get out too often .
What happened next ? I hear you think!!!. Well we arrived at restaurant, explained that we had voucher and explained about previous experience with voucher. Expected no more to be done as previous voucher had expired some 3 months previous and I could not produce previous voucher . The Manageress who greeted us was very sympathetic and advised us that Darwin’s policy was always to owner vouchers even if expired
We were shown to a nice quiet part of restaurant. The manageress came over to us to make sure everything was to our liking and offered us a bottle of wine as compensation for loss of voucher, which we gratefully accepted. Now for the food!! We both concur on this that it was one of the best meals we have had in a very long time. We both had steaks for mains and they were cooked to perfection and generous in portion size. The service that all the staff provided to us was second to none. Darwin’s has set a high bar for anyone else to compete with.

very enjoyable and memorable

Darwins 2.5 star review: Ate with a friend. I had been so looking forward my visit and I was really disappointed. Service was provided by a guy who never smiled once and seemed in a hurry in everything he did. At one point he went to clear the table whilst I was still eating. Two women came to the table at various times and I found them pleasant and smiling. Foodwise I had a soup for starters which was fine. I had a fillet steak for mains which was full of sinew and was hard to cut. I left this uneaten and mentioned on clearing that I couldn't eat it. No further mention of this was made. For desert we both had a cheesecake as recommended which was awful. It was covered in hard chocolate. Trying to eat it was extremely difficult. My friend had prawns for starters and a fillet steak for mains. She was happy enough with her food. The atmosphere was fine but the restaurant was cold. We were eating on a voucher and from a value for money would have been great value had the standard of food been higher. Overall a most disappointing dining experience. I would not return here again.

Darwins 5.0 star review: We were a little worried going to a restaurant on the Monday after a bank holiday weekend as we thought that there would be no atmosphere. No need to worry about this in Darwins, we were lucky to get a table. The tables are quite close to each other so we conscience of our conversation. As we were there for a birthday, we ordered off the main menu but didn’t get starters. I went for the Trio of Lamb and it was out of this world. Every piece of lamb was cooked to perfection and melted in my mouth. My partner went for the fillet of steak as he had heard amazing things about the steaks. He was disappointed with his steak as it had very little flavor, the texture was lovely but it lacked a char grilled taste which he would have liked. We shared two sides, the broccoli had been cooked with chili and garlic and was a taste explosion and the parsnip and potato gratin was lighter then expected which was a lovely surprise. We had two glasses of wine and didn’t get any change from €70 but as a treat it was totally worth it.

Darwins 5.0 star review: We booked a table with a for Wednsday night after work. We had a groupon Voucher for starter and main. The Restaurtant is beautifully laid out and the atmosphere in there is very nice. The staff are very friendly and make you feel at home straight away. The starters were beautiful and were the perfect apetisers for the Steaks. The steaks are very big and very tastey. The staff were always on hand for any extra services.

Darwins 2.0 star review: Was so disappointed by this place, we had heard great reviews of it but sadly it didn't live up to our expectations. The food was only ok, nothing exceptional and very very sparse. With the steak you get the tiny spoonful of mash, I asked to have chips instead, which again was a bird size portion and they charged me for both!!! The tempura prawns were nice but the sauce tasted like it came straight out of a bottle, and again the Eton Mess was very very ordinary. Not impressed at all, we spent well over €200 and we all left hungry!!!!

Darwins 5.0 star review: I went here for my birthday with my partner, We had been recommended by a few people, so decided to try it out. I really loved it. From the offset the greeting was great and we were warmly received. Lovely decor, very easy atmosphere to sit in. Our waitress was brilliant. She was personable and she chatted with us as well as talking our order. Food was fantastic. I had the fish cakes to start, with the surf and turf for main. The meat was melt in your mouth and after both we were not overly full so could fit a dessert aswell. Overall, i will definately return and recommend Darwins to anyone looking for great food, great service and lovely atmosphere.

Lamb Cutlets with Garlic, Lemon and Paprika

Why not make up a large quantity of this marinade in advance – it is wonderful with cutlets and would also work well with leg steaks or loin chops. The longer you marinate the meat for, the better the flavour!
