Got to stay here with a voucher and was pretty impressed with certain aspects. The hotel itself is beautiful and looked very festive with all the Christmas decorations. We ate dinner and breakfast here. As part of the voucher we got €50 towards our dinner bill. It was only when we sat dinner that we were told that this was against the Table d'hote menu, which was €55 and not the a la carte menu. I was disappointed by that as I would never pay that much money for such a menu. Anyways, we ordered as we didn't really have much choice. For starters, I had the scallops, which came in a dish of pureed potato. The 2 scallops were lovely but it was strange to have potato like this with it....it was a big portion of potato and it's not something I would put with scallops. My boyfriend had the crispy pork belly, which was nice. For mains, I had the duck and my boyf went for the steak. My duck was slightly disappointing. The leg was very dry so I left that. The steak was good and nicely cooked. Desserts were also hit and miss. We ordered cheese as it's difficult to mess that up and then we also had the chocolate tasting place. Wasn't hugely impressed wtih this. The chocolate cake was very ordinary and the cherries were tasty but they were just 3 of them. With wine and a tip, dinner came to €180 (€130 when you subtract the €50. Ouch! Breakfast the next day was very good, lots of fresh food and eggs cooked to order. Would stay in hotel again but would be happy to just eat in the bar. I put the value as good as we did use a voucher so did save some money!

we stayed here for the weekend and sampled the food in The Cedars Restaurant. I must say we truely enjoyed our food here, the crab salad for starter was delicious followed by the surf and turf! best steak i've had in a long time. Although the portions looked small, put it theis way, we couldnt move from the table we were that stuffed! lots of friendly attention from the staff and plenty of bread given to us! would definately love to come back! only sore point was the price of the meal.. but we felt it was earned!
