2.5 La Fantasia Italian Restaurant 2.5 star review:
I had heard a lot of positive comments from friends and family on La Fantasia so I was very much looking forward to my first visit. Unfortunately, my expectations were not met.
I cannot understand why people claim this place has a real Italian atmosphere. I don't mind it being in an industrial park but a few posters of 'Roman Holiday' do not make a place Italian.
The food was pedestrian at best - I am gluten-intolerant and as this was pointed out initially I was told about the gluten-free pizzas and other options. As it turned out, they had run out of these (not made fresh, one assumes). Going for the goat's cheese starter and a spicy risotto, these were both underwhelming. The cheese was not wrapped in Parma ham as advertised - a rather sorry slither was placed on top instead. Nothing offered instead of the home-baked bread when requested - in fact, the server was frosty rather than friendly. The risotto was spiced but it didn't taste of anything in particular.
I certainly won't be rushing back.

5.0 La Fantasia Italian Restaurant 5.0 star review:
Had a wonderful dinner here with last Saturday evening. We did have to wait a few minutes before we could be seated so I would suggest booking ahead, especially on the weekends as the place was packed. The staff were friendly and the food was fantastic. It is honestly the best Italian I've had in years and some of the best food I've eaten in Ireland! We had starters and mains and the serving sizes were very generous so were too full for dessert.

5.0 La Fantasia Italian Restaurant 5.0 star review:
I have been going to La Fantasia, whenever I get the chance, since it opened around 3 and half years ago and this restaurant is a real gem. The minute you step inside the door, you are transported to Italy. The walls are draped with all things Italian, from a retro painting of a moped to pasta munching mobsters. The staff are friendly, accommodating and competent. No request is too big or too small and you are always greeted with a smile. I always enjoy taking the time to mull over the extensive menu and have a good look at the very impressive wine list. It's also worth noting the extremely reasonable prices here. It soon becomes evident that it's not about the money for the owner - it's about making people happy. The fireworks really start when your order hits the kitchen. From the dinning area you can see the whole kitchen and watch the chef, a true Italian, and his team work their magic. You can see how much heart and passion the chef pours into every dish and this is clearly evident when the food arrives at your table. I am blown away every time I visit at just how good food can taste. Having visited Rome, largely due to my love of Italian food developed at La Fantasia, I can still say that La Fantasia is easily the best restaurant I have ever been to. How lucky we are in Donegal to have such a gastromical oasis on our doorsteps.

5.0 La Fantasia Italian Restaurant 5.0 star review:
We decided to try La Fanatasia this weekend due to the great reviews. We were not disappointed, this is a great little restaurant serving the most delicious food. I had squid and prawn as a starter- perfectly cooked my husband had lovely cheesy garlic bread. For main course I had the best monkfish I have ever eaten . It was in a creamy, lemon and sage sauce ,just divine and the monkfish was cooked perfectly . It came on a bed of mash with a side order of vegetables which included some garlic potatoes , My husband had the Fantasia pizza with 6 toppings and thought it was wonderful . We had no room left for dessert but managed to savour the free Amaretto liqueurs that came with the bill . The main waiter is very charming and runs the place well .The only negative I have about this restaurant is its location . It is way off the main track in a small industrial estate outside Letterkenny , no one would ever find it by accident so they certainly will not be depending on passing trade. Word however is obviously out about this gem as the restaurant was very busy so I would recommend booking at the weekend. We will certainly return again soon to try out some more dishes from their extensive menu. House wine is around 19 Euro. This is THE place to eat in Letterkenny.
