I can't believe this place hasn't been reviewed before! This is actually the 2nd time I've eaten here (visiting from Dublin), and I have to say both my husband and I are very impressed. The hotel is lovely (and was decorated beautifully for Christmas). I especially loved having a drink in the cozy drawing room before dinner. The meal was very delicious. The highlight for me was the venison: absolutely stunning flavours and cooked to perfection! The little touches such as the soup for amuse-bouche and home-made mince pies at the end of the meal showed that they really wanted their guests to have an enjoyable dinner. The service was excellent, and I really can't find fault in anything. We'll definitey be back again!

Castlegrove is a wonderful country house hotel with a cosy feel and a relaxed family service. It represents fantastic value and is a delightful old house full of charm in a tranquil setting and is a must visit for business folk looking for great food and lodgings or for a tourist looking for a real Irish hotel with local staff. For Lunch I had a starter of pork belly with black pudding and an apple sauce. Very tasty and well presented. My second course for lunch was a Duo of cod and salmon with smoked salmon rissotto and a rosemary foam. Again well presented and very nice and indicative of a talented chef in the kitchen
