Was in Ballyfofey with Friends on a Sunday Night in February when we went for dinner in the Bistro at Jacksons hotel in the town. This is a very large comfortable hotel which seems to have been upgraded over the last few years. There was extensive choice on the menu and the prices were very fair. For starters we had Chicken Wings, Soup and Garlic Mushrooms. Mains ranged from Steaks to the House Burger a Chicken Pasta and Lamb Shank. My friend said the lamb shank was delicious. For dessert then we finished off with Sherry Trifle and Profiteroles. There was an interesting selection though including a dessert based around carrageen moss. Service was extremely friendly and would have no difficulty in recommending. Was a bit slow in stages other than that no gripes!

We got a really good deal to stay at this hotel through the Groupon vouchers so we certainly cannot complain about the price. However, we would not go back. Unfortunately, we found that the staff were not very friendly or helpful. Our deal included dinner but when we arrived we were told that the restaurant was fully booked until 9.30pm. No attempt was made to accommodate us and the girl who informed us was in no way apologetic. We felt that, given that the meal was part of our deal, the hotel could have emailed us in advance re booking the restaurant. We ate in the Bally Buffet (also in the hotel) instead. We seated ourselves as the staff were largely ignoring us. We waited 55 minutes to be served. We asked if we could have a soft drink instead of the free glass of wine that was part of our deal but we were told that we could not! The food was nice though. Our room was nice also though the bed was uncomfortable. Unfortunately there was a lot of noise from a pub across the road. We wrote to the hotel to complain about our experience but received no response.

we just come back from a 4 day stay at this hotel. overall our stay was ver good. leisure centre great for kids young and old...first night we ate in the bar as a chef the food was basic enough and the waitress was very helpfull (experienced) the breakfast offer was a bit of an issue..surley the hotel knows how many ppl are staying? the queus for the hot breakfast were so long...a deep fried breakfast??? sausage pudding eggs swimming in grease bacon beans?? no proper trained chef in the kitchen? continental breakfast was good enough for me...the rooms were in need of repairs curtains falling off the rails etc.....basic enough
