This was quite a famous restaurant in its own right but has been closed for a few years. It re-opened with great fanfare last September. It is now called the Red Door. My visit was intimate dining for two and was spectacular! The place has been beautifully restored and when we visited the exterior was coated in hoary frost but lit up by lanterns. It was very "winter wonderland". Due to said frost many diners had cancelled so the restaurant felt vey empty. I'm aware that they are normally booked out for saturday nights. I had a black pudding scallop starter while the other half had a curried parsnip soup, both to die for. I had a steak (with an impromptu bearnaise not on the menu but produced on request). He had a stuffed chicken dish, also good. Finished with a shared chocolate confectionery. I couldn't recommend this restaurant enough. Points off only because it was so quiet..
