4.5 Sage Restaurant 4.5 star review:
We were looking for Sunday breakfast in Midleton and were struggling to find somewhere that was not a pub. We asked a number of locals who advised us to go to the cafe in Tesco's. We accidently came upon SAGE which is tucked away in a traditional courtyard. The omelettes here were simply fantastic, so fresh and tasty. They were accompanied with grilled potatoes which were delicious. Service was excellent and we were served immediately. We were offered top ups on our coffee which is rare these days. We will definatly be back if in Midleton. Only observation is that you would miss this location as it is not well advertised.

Arrived here on a Saturday night with no booking even though they were full they asked us to come back in 30 mins and were able to give us a table for 4.
The menu was very good as was the food.
We had the chowder which was the best we ever experienced anywhere, we even came back the following night to have it again but found them shut.
Only complaint I could find was that the staff could have been a little bit friendly, It was too business like without even a smile or a friendly word or two.
But will be back, hope we get a smile next time.

I had a meal at Sage in Midleton last night. it is tucked down a lovely old alley in Midleton. There was a table of 14 of us, and we were celebrating a 50th birthday. This is my opinion (although shared by others at the table). We chose from a set menu for €30 and there was a good choice. I chose beef skewer with Vietnamese salad as a starter. This was adequate, the beef was a little tough and dry, the salad was ok. This proved to the best dish of my three course meal. For my main meal I had tandoori chicken. The chicken was succulent and flavorsome, but the potato and veg were disappointing. Not something I would order again. For my dessert I asked for icecream as I didn't feel like anything too heavy. The icecream had frozen ice in the middle and seemed warm on the outside, needless to say i didn't eat it. I ordered an espresso coffee and to say the least it was astringent, seriously very very bad. The service was extremely slow, but there was a large table of us so maybe that is understandable! I had been looking forward to eating at Sage and I have to say the experience was disappointing.

had breakfast here a few weeks ago and went for the sage grill,it was fine, bacon was crispy to the point of burned and for 9.50 a little steep for a breakfast plate with no tomato or a potato dish of some sorts(home fries etc),then the peanut and chocolate cheesecake which came with ice cream which im 100% sure was pre-scooped on a spoon, restaurants do this to get ahead but with 3 chefs on and a kp it crys a bit lazy, ice cream was terrible by the way and the cheesecake tasted old and tasteless.service was really poor, asked for tea, then had to ask twice for milk!....got toast with breakfast, asked for butter and didn't get it till the end, also noticed what looked to be the guy in charge of the front of house not once look at the occupied tables or take interest in them, overall a let down,a pity

I have to say Sage is always a good pick in Midleton, always guaranteed great service with the girl that is there every night, the food is fab, I love their beetroot starter and the atmosphere is nice! It is a great location to the bars in Midleton too, it is on a bus line and near the train station too.

I go here for Sunday brunch all the time and it always feels like such a treat. I usually get the goats cheese fritatta and pesto and feta fries which are both heavenly. The selection of deserts is great and the service is very good. The only thing I would say is the chef is a bit too liberal with corriender which I can't stand!

We first visited "Sage" for an anniversary dinner in January and had a fantastic time. The food was delicious (particularly the pork stuffed with cumberland sausage) and the staff are lovely.
Since our first trip there for dinner, we've been back twice for lunch and were recognised immediately by our waitress from the last night we had been in. As we were being seated at our table, near the open kitchen, both the chefs on duty greeted us and again, the food and service were exceptional.
We returned today and had another excellent dining experience. Despite the restaurant being very busy, the staff greet you warmly on arrival and make sure you have a lovely meal.
Highly recommended.

Yum. Had the early bird menu. My partner had pate to start which he enjoyed and I had prawns which were breaded in a coconut batter divine. I had the risotto for my main which was delicious and the prefect consistency which is hard to find. Only dissapointment was my partners main which was the pizza, topping was lovely but the base was far to crispy. Will definetly be returning soon though, hopefully for dinner. Over all one of the best meals I have eaten out and great value for money.
