Got a delivery from here. They took 45 minutes to deliver, the food was cold. When I called to complain, I was told I shouldn't have gotten a delivery from here if I didnt like the food. The manager was rude and unhelpful.
I paid over E30 for the food and only could eat a side dish out of it all. I noticed the reviews for this place were from 2008 and to be fair, in 2008, it was the best Indian to eat in Cork but since then, they have fallen right down. They have expanded their menu so now it includes mexican, italian and other international food. This is never a good sign when an Indian place branches out like this. Avoid!

went down here for the early bird special which is firstly terrific value. Like all Indian restaurants I have been too the staff were very attentive so that was nice to see that trend continue. The food was lovely. I had a chicken dish (only one on early bird) and it was unreal. it could have fed two people. The place is really nice with a lovely atmosphere. Try it!

i found this indian to be one of the better restuarants in cork, nice flavours and not overpriced, only main complaint is you seem to get more in your takeaway portions than you do at a sit down meal. Overall a good value tasty indian

Myself and a friend had a pleasant mid week meal at Lal Quila during a recent visit to Douglas. It wasn't our first choice but when we couldn't get a table at another restaurant in the town we decided to give this place a try. They had a three course early bird menu for €20 so we went with that. The food was fine, we weren't blown away but at the same time we couldn't fault anything, except maybe the dessert which was limited to ice-cream for the early bird. We each had two glasses of house red wine during the meal. The price for the lot came to about €58. The service was very efficient, but then again there appeared to be as many wait staff as diners so it ought to have been! Overall a pleasant experience

Food is not bad, service is great. The Tandoori Sizzling Prawns and Pilau rice are a must. Peshwari naan looks a bit processed.

The restaurant location is right in the centre of Douglas village, great location and the building itself is very pretty being an old Garda Station.
We were shown to our table for two by the door. The restaurant is comfortable, & the overall interior is very good.
As it was New Years Eve staff were anxious to get us started on our Indian cuisine experience. They wanted the table back by 7:30pm and had told us this when booking so it was not an issue. At first I thought the staff were a little unfriendly and pushy but in fact as the meal progressed it seems I was mistaken as we had no issues with service there overall.
We began with Lal Quila Khas which is a combination of starters and we shared this. It included king prawn, lamb, chicken and potato. It was very good. A nice mix of flavours. We also nibbled on the basket of poppadoms and three dipping sauces.
Main courses were Jhinga Hara Masala (Sautéed prawn with ginger, garlic, mint, coriander and tarka with cumin seed garnished with Julian ginger) and I highlly recommend this dish to you. It was listed as 'medium' heat and yes, it was indeed medium. The second main course was Jalfrezi Jhinga (Jumbo prawns cooked with peppers, onion, tomatoes, and medium hot spices). We both agree that while the latter was very good, the former was the winner for sure.
A bottle of Chilean Ventisquero Reserve, Sauvignon Blanc 2006 brought our bill to €77 (excl service) and while this would be considered expensive in general, we did agree it was not overpriced for the whole dining experience.

just recently went to Lal Quila, the food was amazing as i had heard about this restaurant. Atmosphere was also very good. They have been renewing this restaurant and after that i can get multicuisine food as per the manager of the restaurant. Service was absolutely very good. Taste of the food is worth with the price.

Had lamb hyderabadi and tarka dhal with naan bread. Lamb was delicious, the sauce was sweet and sour and the meat soft and tender. Nothing too impressive about the dhal. Naan was fresh and fluffy. Good service, found it a little expensive compared to the portion served, but still decent value as the quality is there.
