You have to go to this place for breakfast! Wow! The menu for breakfast is extensive and excellent. The food is fantastic. I had poached eggs with sourdough toast. I shared a cheese toastie. It was excellent. The area its located in feels a little run down, with many businesses in the area closed. But this cafe had a booming business. There was a queue to get in. I haven't seen this happen in Ireland before for a breakfast place. The service was not great. There seemed to be a lot of servers but not much work being done. The layout of the restaurant isnt great. There is a big table in the centre being used up with "servers things" like cutlery, napkins, jams, newspapers etc. A waste of space that could be used to sit some of the waiting customers.

Stopped in recently for a late breakfast both myself and my wife, opted for the eggs benedict with a side of Rosscarbery Black pudding , could not say a word against it, Hollandasie sauce was excellent , the chef must have trained on poaching eggs all his life and the Pudding was beautiful, a fine peppery taste, which is why I would rate it way above it more famous west Cork neighbour. Service was fast and pleasant, and got into a good giggle with the waitress but no more about that topic.... Will be going back again ....

We wanted to dine there at 7/7:30 but because there were 7 of us they asked us to come in for 6:30, as they said we would not be finished until 9pm. WRONG we were finished and gone by 8.15pm -Maddening. Next time I will be insisting that we get the time WE want. Atmosphere in this very nicely decorated restaurant is excellent, and looking out the windows towards an illuminated rain spattered Washington street, you would almost swear you were sitting in a restaurant on a NYC street. Service couldn't be faulted, though there is a tinge of the hard sell when you arrive (no doubt prompted by the difficult economic times we are in) with "Ok I'll start with your drinks orders". We didn't ! I had a caesar salad to start, it was fresh & tasty, if just a little on the small side, but I couldn't fault it other than that. I then had the Falafel in pitta bread. Three balls of (deep fried ??) Falafel with Pitta and salad accompanied with 2 small ramekins of dips. The falafel was pretty much tasteless and I wouldn't recommend it. My dining partners had meet burgers and they looked excellent. One had fish and chips which was quite ordinary and the fish quite tasteless. 7 starters, 7 mains, 2 desserts, 2 beers, 3 soft drinks, 1 bottle house white wine at €17.50 all came to €185 excl tip. (which we gave). We thought it was good value. I would go back, but next time will be going straight for the meat dishes on the menu.
