This is probably my very favorite restaurant in cork city. Have been quite a few times and always very good. Fish is excellent as is all on the menu.

Prior to Saturday evening last, I went onto electric's website to view the restaurant menu, it was 'not' visible to see what type of meal / food i would order and to see was it worth going there and further more if the bar & restaurant want people to go into their premises or return then they need to have all menu's online including prices !! Continuing along, I had dinner at electric in the restaurant, I was disappointed to say the least for the prices that they were charging especially when you had to pay for side orders including (mash, garlic potatoes, vegetables, chips, etc) The portion of food that was given to me on a plate was miserable, the plate was bigger than the chicken, roast chicken with a paltry amount of spinach and half attempt of supposedly shredded carrot & parsnip mixed together with a glaze again chargrilled, black in colour - in my opinion as a paying customer NOT GOOD ENOUGH !! I pay for good food when I out, the chef & the restaurant are there to satisfy the customer(s) not to half starve the customer(s) or make them feel anorexic or have people going home more hungry than when they arrived at the outset !!! €18 was a rip off, then factor in extra for side orders. Fair is fair, if that is what is classed as fine dining then electric as a restuarant business need to wake up and properly look after it's customers, there are by far more places in Cork city & county and electric needs to up the ante and seriously look at their menu(s) I will not ever return there and advice people to choose else where to go where they won't feel ripped off or going home hungry. My friend and I had been about a year ago and the food was so good we returned again. Mistake! We were shown a table for two and told we had to be out by 7pm ( it was 5.15pm) when I commented that I wasn't too happy with a time frame I was told cheekily that ' that's plenty of time'. I asked for rib eye steak without garlic and told all steak has garlic. I asked for mushrooms without sauce and was told 'all mushrooms have sauce' so I then asked for a burger but was told that 'all burgers have garlic'. We then settled for dish of the day - veal with sweet potato. The veal was so tough that we both couldn't eat all of it. The dish has a teensy tiny bit of spinach and 2 tiny roasted potatoes. The waiter and waitress were so obnoxious we left and went somewhere else for coffee. This dreadful veal dish cost €26 each. What a rip off. I had to eat when I got home I was still so hungry. Never again. I hate garlic and have never experienced a restaurant before which couldn't accomodate my wish for none!

Dined in the new Fish bar upstairs at Electric. Really lovely food, inventive fish dishes and great staff. It was early so hard to say about atmosphere but there was a great relaxed feel to the place. Good wine and seafood platter was fab. One of our group had the lobster club sandwich, really good.

I had US colleagues and Cork customers here for dinner last Thursday. The bar is a great place to meet, the staff were very friendly and helpful. The menu choice was very good with something to suit all. we didn't want individual starters so they provided a mixed plate for the table which was great. The main courses were very good, my Lamb Tagine was really tasty and the lamb was succulent and tender. Overall a really good experience. My US colleagues are quickly coming to the realisation that this is the country for fantastic food and great restaurants.

We went for the early bird. The waiter was very friendly, as were the rest of the staff we dealt with. I had the Crostini and dips and my Husband had the Mussels both were really good. I had the Cod and my Husband had the steak the Cod was so fresh and the steak was cooked perfectly. The Creme Brulee was also very good and so was the house white wine. I can't wait to go back.

3 of us went for rib eye steak unfortunately it was very fatty, not appetising at all - served with little rocket, one mushroom and little potatoe not good value, lots of little bits of "grizzle" left on plate, we decided not have desert we were so disappointed. We have been for early bird much better value and food.

called in today for a bite at the bar, but ended up going up to the restaurant. Excellent deal, €20 for starter and main, glass of wine or dessert. Hubby had lamb tagine to begin, a little bland but a lovely portion and the lamb was very tender. I had the silverside, the brown bread was delicious and the corned beef delicious. I would have been happy with this alone. This is the same silver side served on the boards in the bar in the evening, also delicious. For mains, hubby had steak on flatbread. Unfortunately the bread was a little thick and dense not like flatbread at all.. nice but starter meant expectations were high. I had fish and chips, chips not great, fish was delicious. The only difficulty was the leek/pea puree, didn't like it not my taste but I got no choice as it did take up a lot of the plate!! Salad shoved into a ramekin is a little odd too. We both had a glass of wine, the white not as good as the red. Fantastic value, and service was brilliant we had 16month old with and the staff were most accommodating. Great place.

-I have been here before in the early afternoon and it was lovely. They served fresh cakes with delicious coffee so was looking forward to going here in the evening. -When we walked into the bar, we didn't feel very comfortable. There is a certain type of clientel that go there that if you are not "dressed to impress" (even on a wednesday afternoon), you are gawked at. We were casually dressed, meeting a group of people for a few quiet drinks, which for a wednesday night, I was not expecting to be in very dressy clothes. -We all ordered beers and soft drinks and I ordered the calamari. It was tough and chewy and served with an awful spicy tomato sauce. I asked for garlic mayo but got mayo. When I asked again, I got garlic mayo but it was vile and tasted like plastic. For 8 euro for a taster, I was not impressed! -The service was good for the waiter. He was attentive and always came around every time we finished our drinks, even though he was busy which was very appreciated. The bar staff were unhelpful so we stopped getting up to get our own drinks and asked the waiter to do so instead. -Needless to say, we didn't stay there all night. A little disappointed for such a beautiful bar on a great location.

Had some colleagues over from Portugal and France and brought them to Electric for dinner - had a great night, staff were fabulous and the food was gorgeous. Only downside was that it was very noisy and we found ourselves nearly shouting at one stage to be heard but couldn't fault the food or the service
