They buy seasonal and locally produced food and serve a short but carefully thought out menu. Freshly prepared dishes reflect the Ballymaloe philosophy that fresh food should be treated with care and simply prepared. Their menu changes weekly although a few specialities are too popular to take off!

5.0 Crawford Gallery Cafe 5.0 star review:
This restaurant I cannot avoid anytime I go city shopping in Cork. The main attraction is the homemadeness and wholesomeness of its food. I've enjoyed all its main courses but its their fish cake that does it for me. Now this is served normally with salad leaves but I always ask if they would replace those with the hot veg of the day and there's never a problem. So I end up with a large size fishy fishy cake, delicious creamy mashed potato and two veg- beautifully garnished and tasty tartare sauce. As soup is always delicious and varied - its a must and the freshly-baked brown bread served with it has no equal anywhere. I'm always full to the gills after those two courses but find desserts irresistable. I weaken and my difficulty is always in choosing as they are all so freshly home-cooked and different to your average. The kindness and eager -to -please waitresses will always allow a half portion of one or two if it can be done. Then you sure have a treat. Do try to fish out this magnificient café/restaurant. I don't eat a morsel until next day and it isn't that I feel bloated or unpleasantly full but hunger is at bay for 24hrs and the all those delightful tastes linger........and and my purse is not that much lighter either.

4.5 Crawford Gallery Cafe 4.5 star review:
I visit the Crawford whenever I get a chance for a morning coffee or if I yearn after a hearty lunch. The scones in the morning are scrumptious, home made balls of cosiness, the coffee is good and you can get free refills if you are leisurely. Lunch is a variety of home cooked meals with a twist of a difference, there are savoury pancakes and fish cakes ( the hollandaise sauce is very tasty) there are also meat dishes. The only squabble I have of the menu is that there are no quick bite options as in paninis or sandwiches. The service is second to none and it is obvious that the waitresses here are carefully chosen, many have worked here for some time. The quality of the food I cannot fault. The price is a ; little on the expensive side average cost for a meal being about €12 but I think you pay for the overall service and excellent tasty food. A place worth a visit.

5.0 Crawford Gallery Cafe 5.0 star review:
The Crawford Gallery has to be one of my favourite Art Galleries in Ireland and certainly my favourite place to visit over all in Cork. Between the stunning architecture of the building itself, the cornicing and wood carvings, and then the art work itself, what more could you ask for...
Well, nestled on the ground floor is one of the best little coffee shops I've ever experienced. The staff are friendly and attentive without being a nuisance, and the food is wholesome - proper homemade and so tasty. A must for every bread lover!
Away from the hustle and bustle of the busy Cork city, this is a perfect haven to rest, relax and be inspired in.
I have been here many times, and will continue to visit for many years to come, hopefully
