The Martello 5.0 star review: We visited the Restaurant on Saturday 15th September.
We were a group of Six, were visiting Glengariff for the Cork Rebel Cycling event. Prior to booking the restaurant I looked at the trip advisors reviews on the Restaurant and I was curious as to what the service was going to be like. The Restaurant was full when we arrived (which to me is a postive sign) We had arrived early, but the waitress greeted us immediately professionally, smartly dressed with a smile and handed us the menus will we waited. The atmospheure was very warm and inviting in the Restaurant. Candles were lit which created a lovely warm glow, the background music was also relaxing while eating. We were seated and the waitress brought out home made bread with this beautiful homemade paste (which was extremely tasty can't remember the name). The starters were professionally presented and I had streak for my main course 'well done' which it was and the vegetables were very tasty. I didn't have a dessert but a French Coffee again very well presented. The service was consistant and the feedback from the other group members was they enjoyed their meal and was delighted with it. So well done to the staff and the cheff at this restaurant I would highly recommend it as a 'must visit' when in Glengarrif. It was a beautiful finish to a hard, tough day of cycling. Value for money; price wise the starters were a little over priced, main course reasonable. Presentation for atmosphere, food quality, service and professionalism of staff - excellent.

The Martello 2.5 star review: I liked the actual restaurant, the room was bright and airy with adequate space between tables. The maitre d' was a charming and welcoming lady. (The waitress not so enthusiastic.) The food was very average and hence overpriced. The fish was wonderfully fresh and cooked well but you don't get a prize for that! Perhaps they need to cater for locals but serving potatoes and mixed veg with scallops seems ignorant. There was too much French/Irish fusion going on for my taste.
The dessert was the absolute WORST I have ever had in Ireland. Cheesecake with a soft base, industrial tasting lemon and cheese. Awful. Some fresh Irish strawberries or anything seasonal would have been nicer (It doesn't take much)
I wish I had tried somewhere else to eat in this wonderful town.

The Martello 5.0 star review: We were 4 ladies celebrating a special occasion. The evening got off to a bubbly start with the house Prosecco. Food was outstanding - highly recommend their King Prawn Salad starter and the monkfish/scallops main on the specials. Deserts too tempting to resist. The stylish Christmas decor and impeccable, friendly service from Emily made it a perfect evening and got us all in the Chrismas spirit.

The Martello 5.0 star review: I went here one saturday night with a few friends for an early bird dinner. It is a small restaurant but the setting is quite nice. The atmosphere is particularly nice here and is suitable if you are looking for a quite meal with one or more friends. The menu will cater for most tastes and the portion sizes are sufficient. Prices are quite reasonable but the early bird menu is particularly good value at €25.00 for 3 courses! The staff are very pleasant too. One word or warning though - for some unknown reason they do not accept credit cards so make sure you have enough cash and remember there is no ATM in Glengarriff!!!!
