My boyfriend & I decided to get takeaway from Jasmine's - having never been there before we thought it worth a try. The phone was answered quite quickly & the girl who took the order spoke pleasantly enought in a clear manner. She advised our order would be ready to collect in approx 5-10 minutes. I cannot fault the timing, the food was ready bang on 10 mins - I literally walked in the door & it was just being brought out for collection. The takeaway waiting room was a bit dull & dark though, it didn't inspire much confidence. The guy who served me had an extremely thick accent, it was very difficult to understand him. Talking to him reminded me of a Michael McIntyre sketch I once saw whereby he dictated that we all adhere to the rule of 3 - after you ask someone to repeat something 3 times, if you still can't understand you just nod & agree & say YES! :-) Back to business - food. My bf got chicken curry with chips & I ordered the king prawn curry with boiled rice. The chicken looked nice, loads of breast meat pieces & according to himself, the curry ok, very much bog standard chinese curry. Mine however, may as well have been onion curry with a few small prawns. The sauce itself was bland & a bit watery looking, there must have been at least 2 chopped up onions in the container to bulk up the sauce & there's no way in hell the prawns I got were king prawns. They were small to medium in size, no more than 6 in the container. Also, my bf did a taste test between the 2 curries (as I don't eat meat) he said his sauce tasted completely different to mine, much nicer by comparison. Needless to say I was very disappointed. On a good front, the chips were fantastic, the nicest I've tasted in a long time from a chinese. The rice was lovely too, nicely cooked on the fluffy side. Overall, very disappointing. I wouldn't order from Jasmine again, & I definitely wouldn't go there for a sit down meal. The bad just far outweighed the good.
