My wife and I visited this restaurant today for the first time. The place was quite busy and we were quickly seated by a friendly member of staff. Lunch isnt exactly the ideal time to visit a restaurant and then pass comment but it does give a fair indication as to what is on offer. Anyway, the restaurant did offer a reasonably varied lunch menu, but I passed on the Panini's, the carvery beef, the curry, the burger and opted for the sirloin steak sandwich. My wife opted for the fish cakes. Both came out of the kitchen pretty quickly and my wifes dish definately looked the more appealing with 2 fine size cakes on the plate along with a side salad, dressing and side portion of fries. The first item I tasted from my steak sandwich was one of the over cooked mushrooms which was stone cold. Very quickly taken back into the kitchen by friendly staff and returned with luke warm over cooked mushrooms (It is frightening as to how many chefs do not know how to cook a mushroom). Anyways, the steak is well sourced and of a very good quality, so I cut in half and swapped for one of my wifes fish cakes which were tasty, but had a very average quality of smoked haddock lurking around but was still well cooked and well flavoured. For the type of restaurant and location I was surprised not to see a seafood dish on the menu and there was no pasta dish offered either. All in all, I would say it is a well run restaurant with good quality suppliers but lacks a lot of imagination in the kitchen... actually, i dont think there is any imagination in the kitchen. Would I go back there,, probably not.
