4.0 Durty Nelly's 4.0 star review:
I always have to visit Durty Nellies when in Bunratty and always have a snack or two. I have always found the upstairs bar more friendly than the downstairs so this is where we headed again. I had the chowder with brown bread - very very tasty, could do with a few more 'big' bits of fish in it but other than that, couldn't really fault it. My partner had the burger with fries and the barman said the chef did too many chips and brought out another plate for us, very nice! Another one of our party had the ham and cheese toastie with chips and demolished it fairly quickly. Bar food is bar food and it's not the cheapest but it is Durty Nellies and the atmosphere is great. Go upstairs for nicer service!!

Ate here with my mother and a friend in the restaurant section. This was my second visit here. On arrival it took a while to be seated as even though the staff noticed us waiting they took their time in seating us. Once we ordered our food arrived fairly quickly. It then took ages for both the table to be cleared and to obtain a desert menu. However once ordered the deserts arrived fairly quickly. The service for the most part was unsmiling. The food was very good and everyone in the party enjoyed it. The location of Durty Nelly's is Proximal to the nearby Bunratty folk park and castle and also very near to Shannon airport. The atmosphere was fine on the day we were there and the customers consisted mostly of tourists. I enjoyed the food and location of this eatery however I feel the service could be more polished and smiling. I would return here and would recommend this venue for food and hopefully the next time I will be met with a smile.

We went to The Folk Park and were really lucky with the weather. After spending few hours walking we thought it would be nice to eat outside at Nelly's. Its proximity to Bunratty castle has given it the benefit of visitor trade and tour buses. We worried that because of this they may not pay too much attention to their food. Having thought that, we just went for traditional and safe fish and chips as you can never be wrong with this kind of food in Ireland. As expected it was OK just as any fish and chips in any pub. Oh, but if you want ketchup or pepper etc you have to ask the staff as they don't place them on the tables outside. The venue is nice and busy with the beautiful views of the castle in the background. Overall, nothing extraordinary but still worth stopping by.

Really disappointing. Food wasn't cooked properly. Service was slow even though it wasn't busy.
