We had an amazing experience there. Probably the best meal that I have had. It is just a shame that it is not easier to book.

Dined in MacNean Restaurant in Blacklion, Co. Cavan on the 12th July - celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary. It was absolutely superb - we opted for the 8 course tasting menu - One couldn't fault it. Very enjoyable but not something one would do every month. Next time will opt for 3 course dinnerMC

nMy husband and I drove from Cork (320km) to MacNean House and Restaurant for dinner at 6pm, and it was so worth it. We were greeted by a lovely lady who's name l didn't get but she was so pleasant and made us feel very welcome. Everything about the restaurant is lovely, the decor, the back round music, n the staff and above all the food!! Oh my God the food is just divine, l have never eaten such fancy food before, the flavours, the presentation were superb. We got to meet Nevin and he kindly allowed us to have a photo taken with him. A wonderful evening and will definitely go again . Thank you Catherine and John n

I couldn't find fault with anything in McNean House restaurant. It is a little expensive but certainly worth the money. We stayed in a lovely room for the night. Lovely breakfast the next morning - especially the porridge. This is a place that should be visited at least once in ones lifetime. I will be back.

I have previously reviewed McNeans but feel it is worth a second commendation. I have eaten in top class restaurants across the world and while some have better food and some have better service and some have better accommodation, none have what this establishment has, all three in abundance. We celebrated our 30th Wedding Anniversary here with all the family, a demanding table of 8. from the time we checked in the experience was exceptional. the rooms are beautifully decorated. The service prior to dinner and during and again at breakfast was top class, you couldn't ask for better. As for the food, everyone at the table agreed that each mouthful was nicer than the one before. a truly wonderful way to celebrate 30 years of marriage. One small disappointment, Neven wasn't there but that didn't change the food or the service. We should be truly grateful to have such a wonderful restaurant here in Ireland.

We came here because we were here before and enjoyed it. From the minute we arrived the staff were great. The atmosphere was very good. As for the food it was delicious and the presentation was lovely. The service was very good. As for value we got what we paid for and more. This is a great place for a special occasion. Neven makes a point of coming out to speak to all the diners. He is a very genuine and friendly person who deserves all his success. He has a very good team of staff who seem to like working with him. Best of luck to Neven and all the staff.

A slice of heaven in the heart of Cavan is how I would describe this restaurant, from the moment you walk in the door to the time you leave the experience is pure magic, the ambience, the setting, the service and of course the wonderful food is a delight to behlold, I went with my mother as it was her birthday and we went for the prestige menu which was delightful they also brought out some different things in between each course which was very good of them, we were also delighted to meet Neven Maguire who came out to autograph 2 cookbooks for us, not only did we have a wonderful dinner but the breakfast the next day was pure heaven on earth. Definitely worth a visit a bit on the pricey side but worth every single cent.

Food was once again excellent. Good variety, presentation and superb flavours. Sadly the restaurant tables are now too close! The diners sitting next to us introduced themselves as we may as welol have been sitting together! The bedrooms are overpriced for what is available.

A magical experience. It's a lovely place, pleasant staff, great rooms and superb food. My wife and I had a truly excellent evening. MacNean House is a lovely B & B with beautiful rooms. We went for the Prestige Menu (including Wine selection). The food is excellent and the wines raise the bar another notch in terms of culinary experience.

This was an amazing dining experience! Neven came out before dinner to greet his diners and came to our table as one of our party has a food allergy and he made a substitution. We opted for the taster menu with wine and it was out of this world. The staff were excellent and very informative explaining each dish as it came out. Breakfast the next morning was delicious. Its a special occasion night out and not cheap but it was worth it.

Believe the hype it's all true. I went down expecting to be underwhelmed but it was absolutely amazing. Nevin greeted all diners in the bar waiting area before our meal and was so friendly, which started our evening of on a high. However the food is the high- light of this night – nothing will prepare you for it, and as the menu changes frequently it’s fantastic to think we can go again and expect even more surprises. The food is just magical, even though the quantities on each plate are small you will not leave hungry, because of the various courses. Everything hits your taste buds, the textures and tastes just wow, and our party of 6 were incredible impressed. The waiter service was impeccable - in a friendly way. Yes it’s pricey but we all agreed it was worth every cent. We enjoyed the whole experience and because we stayed overnight had the joys of breakfast here also – oh I’m salivating just remembering it.

I couldn't really fault anything about the place. Expesnive, but worth it. Had the 9 course prestige menu & the food seemed to be never ending. Staff are excellent, very friendly & genuine. The food is simply a,azing. Highly recommended!
