PÓL O’D Restaurant, Ballyconnell

PÓL O’D is a popular bistro style restaurant in an old stone building in the centre of Ballyconnell. All produce is sourced locally where possible (in fact the chef rears his own pigs and chickens and grows a lot of his own vegetables). Delicious homemade desserts including POL O'D's own ice-cream and a creative wine list with many available by the glass together with a very friendly staff makes for a very enjoyable evening or Sunday Lunch.

My Darling Wife and I had a nice meal at PÓL O’D. Nice menu, easy to find something that suited both of us (as we've different likes). The menu was talked through by a nice well mannered lady/waitress. The food was well presented and tasted great. Would have no hessitation in recommending this restaurant.

Ate in Polo D last Friday night. Absolutely superb meal. Nice warm, calm atmosphere on entering and very warm greeting from staff. The service was absolutely fantastic. Food was excellent and beautifully presented. Had brie to start om my goodness, absolutely beautiful, best I have tasted anywhere. Chicken for main course, again lovely and very nicely presented. Great spot for a nice calm evening out.

I was invited to dinner in Polo D’s to celebrate a retirement. This is my fourth visit and none have disappointed. As a starter I had the potato skins with red onion, bacon & cheese, the main was a fillet steak with a red wine sauce and as I was unable to fit dessert in, I went for a Baileys coffee. The restaurant was full, yet there was space to fit in 15 at our table! Everyone enjoyed the food and the staff are from around Ballyconnell and very friendly. It’s definitely expensive but it’s worth it for a special treat.
