Was on a trip to Carlow for the day, and decided to try this place based on the reviews here. The restaurant itself has a nice european bistro feel to it and a lovely outside area for when the weather gets warmer... Interesting selection of tapas on the menu, not really spanish though, there seemed to be a mixture of spanish, irish, morroccan, american etc.. Based on the waitress's advice that the portions were big, we only ordered two tapas between the two of us, but we could have done with three or four. The black pudding was beautiful, but the falafels seemed to have been baked rather than fried, so they were a little lacking in flavour. However the cheesecakes for desert were lovely. The only other negative, was there were no white spanish wines on the menu, but the french wine we had was very good for the price. Overall an enjoyable meal.

Myself and the better half were staying in the Killerig Hotel last Thursday and popped into Carlow for a bite to eat, to be honest we didn't know where to go and got a bit of a steer from the taxi man who told us about Mimosa. We arrived and got a table immediately although the waiter did tell us that if they got busy as we were at a table for 4 we might have to move...eh I think not...only reason why I'm marking down the service 1 point!! That said the service and food were great and there is a lovely atmosphere in the restaurant. I was intrigued by the chilli chocolate beef and ordered it although I must say when it came I had to get rid of the chocolate, my tastebuds obviously aren't sofisticated enough to appreciated the balance, apart from that it must be one of the best tapas restaurants I've been too...thanks for a great night guys!!
