3.5 Italian Connection (Carlow) 3.5 star review:
Was visiting Carlow for the weekend & just popped in for a bit to eat we have not rang ahead but got a table. Quite a big place & it was not full. I got the impression people just came in eat & left. There was no-one taking their time or seem to be relaxing over their meal. the food was lovely & well presented but came out fast. Was not expensive but then we did not have wine & the coffe was pretty bad. Would go back if I was in Carlow again if we couldnt find anything better

Very good food, well presented and flexible. I requested a mixture from different items on the menu and it was not a problem.Nice atmosphere and great choice on the menu. Happy to recommend this restaurant any time to anyone.

4.0 Italian Connection (Carlow) 4.0 star review:
I ate in the Italian Connection as part of a hen party. We were one of 3 hen parties in the restaurant on the Saturday, it's really big and easily able to accomodate all of the groups, not sure though that i'd have liked to have been on a romantic night out amongst all the women.
We had a set menu but it was by no means limited, with a huge selection from the main menu. As it was so varied each dish was charged separately which I think worked out well.
Food was ok but I was so full and disappointed after my start of Brushetta that it just marred what followed.
The brushetta is a full 9inch pizza base with tomatoes. Really not what i wanted to see. Having ordered pizza for main, I was pretty horrified to see it.
The pizza was good, having been so full with all the pizza bread I didn't have dessert but the chocolate dessert was lovely.
The staff and hostess were great and we got a free shot on the way out.
I would suggest that the chef reconsiders the brushetta or that the restaurant let diners know exactly how big it is
